Why deed redaction is delicate

A property deed identifies the parties, the property, the price, and often financial details (mortgage references, IBAN for proceeds). It is highly sensitive: the parties' identities, the property address, and the transaction amount must often be protected before any third-party disclosure.

When deed redaction is required

  • Sharing with banks for financing (mask non-essential parties)
  • Court submissions where parties must be anonymized
  • Internal training material or anonymized case studies
  • Long-term archive with reduced PII surface

Layout-preserving rasterization

Notarial documents have precise layout requirements (signature blocks, stamp positions, page numbering). Our irreversible rasterization preserves the document's appearance while permanently removing the masked content — no hidden text, no recoverable layers.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the deed

Single deed or full file of related documents.

  2. 2

Select Person, Address, IBAN, Date, Organization

    Typical PII categories for deeds.

  3. 3

    Studio review (recommended for deeds)

Deeds have unique layouts. A quick Studio review ensures legal-grade quality.

  4. 4

    Download the redacted deed

Output is a flattened PDF — courts and registries accept it.

For notarial practice

Swiss notaries handling real-estate transactions can redact buyer/seller information for archives without losing the original's legal validity. The original remains in your master file.

Frequently asked questions

Is the redacted output legally valid?

The redacted file is a copy intended for sharing or archiving — not a replacement for the signed original. The original deed in your master file is unchanged.

Can I add a custom watermark like "Redacted Copy"?

Not yet built-in. You can add a watermark using any PDF tool after download.

What about notarial stamps and signatures?

Stamps and signatures are not auto-redacted (they are not "PII" in the AI sense). Use Studio manual masks if you want to obscure them.
