Redact PDF AI removes personal data from tenant applications and background checks automatically — names, addresses, dates of birth, social-security/AHV numbers, and financial details. It works on scanned forms via OCR. Review the detections in the Studio, then download a flattened PDF that is safe to archive or share.

What's in a tenant application

A typical application packet includes the applicant's identity, employment verification (employer name, salary), prior landlord references, credit-report excerpts, and bank statements. Under GDPR, you cannot keep this data indefinitely — and rejected applicants have stricter retention limits.

GDPR retention obligations

Most national authorities (CNIL in France, CNPD in Luxembourg, FDPIC in Switzerland) require destruction or redaction of rejected-applicant files within months of decision. Bulk redaction is the practical compliance path.

Selective retention via redaction

Instead of destroying the entire application (which you may need for fair-housing audit trails), you can redact PII while keeping the structural document for compliance evidence.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the application packet(s)

Batch supported — process all rejected applicants in one go.

  2. 2

    Default PII sweep

Person, Email, Phone, Address, IBAN, CreditCard, Date.

  3. 3

    Studio audit

Confirm coverage on one packet before mass-processing.

  4. 4

    Export ZIP

Replace original applications with redacted versions in your archive.

For property managers

Rejected applicants must have their data minimized within weeks (per most EU DPAs). Bulk redaction lets you keep evidence of fair process without retaining excess PII.

Frequently asked questions

Should I delete or redact rejected applications?

Best practice: redact the PII but keep the structural file for fair-housing audit purposes. Consult your local DPA for specifics.

Can I keep my own agency contact info visible?

Yes — add it to "Excluded Terms".

What about handwritten references?

OCR handles printed text; handwriting is best-effort. Studio manual masks cover the rest in seconds.
